Socio-Economic
Purpose: The Socio-Economic Section is responsible for the coordination of South Africa’s economic relations with the United States, and has as its primary objective the promotion of cooperation between South Africa and the United States in support of South Africa and Africa’s socio-economic development priorities. The section focuses on the political aspects of the economic relationship in, inter alia, the following areas: Transport, Science and Technology, NEPAD, Development Assistance, Education, Housing, Labour, Health, Minerals and Energy, Agriculture, Finance, and Trade and Investment.
