Biography
Johnny Moloto was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Mission at the South African Embassy in December 2009.
Prior to that he served in other governmental positions as the Director for Greater China at the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (2008-2009); Head: Office of the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (2004-2007); Head: Business Development and International Relations at the Agricultural Research Council (2003-2004); Deputy Director: Strategy, Research and Coordination at The Presidency - Office of the Deputy President; Administrator: South African National Commission for UNESCO. Before joining government, Johnny also worked as Tutor and later junior lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, the same university from which he earned his bachelor, honours and masters degrees in international relations. He is currently working towards the completion of his Doctorate in Public Affairs with the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
His areas of interest and specialty include South African Foreign Policy; Development Studies; Public Administration and Finance; Systems and Planning; and Organisational Development and Transformation. Johnny has spoken extensively on South Africa’s foreign policy and wrote numerous speeches for principals in government, two of which (on ethics and information institutions) were published in respectable journals.
He was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 17, 1971. He is married to Pamela and they have one son, Itebogeng (Tebo).
